It's going to be years until the next book is released. What will HBO do when the series catches up to the books that aren't finished yet?

I have the feeling those books are going to pop out very quickly.

Not gonna happen. George Martin is one of the slowest writers on the planet. Besides writing Game of Thrones, he also writes scripts for the tv show, edits the Wild Card series, contributes to various anthologies and is off to one convention or another pretty much every other week all year long. I'd be very surprised to see the next book before 2014.

That said, they are AMAZING books! and the TV series does a decent job of doing it justice. There are even a few scenes in the TV show that were never written in the books that GRRM wrote just for that medium.

I will say I'm steadily making my way through my 1800 page pdf of the first 3 books. I don't have alot of spare time to read, but I'm trying to catch up to season 2 of the tv show.

The books are great. Much better, in a different way, than the tv show. Don't read too fast, you'll only want a 1-2 year wait for the next book.
