Allies of Convenience and Desperate allies are enemies

I saw a new video at http://www.beastsofwar.com/warhammer-40k/cheese-hunters-allies-convenience-super-cheese/ and they have opened a big old can of worms by carefully reading the way the allies rules are written.

They explain it all in detail in the video but basically the rules say this: allies of convenience and desperate allies in your army are enemy models. What this means is that those allies are also denial units against YOU by the way victory condition rules are written.

Now here is the real kicker. According to the close combat rules you must go into base to base contact with an enemy model for pile-ins if you can do so. So lets say your unit and a close by ally of convenience unit get multi-assaulted by one of the other players units. Well guess what, your convenience allies are enemy models too and the melee isn't going to stop until you or them are dead (or the enemy kills you both).

I'm not even going to get into the dilemma about whether or not your destroyed desperate/convenience allied units give kill points to YOU instead of your opponent.

My head hurts.

A perfect example of what happens when people try to use a non competitive rule system in a competitive environment
