Anthony's Project
January's Project
For the rest of January I will be completing the final models to update my Iron Cross Legion for 6th edition. The idea is to be finished in time for Coastal Assault later this month.
Here is my project box:
1. The master of ordnance needs flocking and the leman russ turret needs to be painted.
2. Mr. Wreck yo Face Himself. He needs to be painted in the colors of my army.
3. Since Steel Legion didn't have autocannon teams I will have to make my own by placing the Cadian AC onto the steel legion's base then get it painted.
4. Finish my Vendetta squadron. The two in the front need repair, painting and cockpit completion. In the end they should look like the Vendetta in the center.
This bird is mostly painted, still have to finish painting the underside, cockpit and weapons then add decals.
This bird is a mess, thanks to some help from my cat and a table edge. I doubt I will have it finished in time. It needs lots of repair and a complete paint job to my army color's. I want to save the unique wing art, probably leave it in a black oval. I hope it looks good when I finish. The bird is missing the plate that goes on the end of the nose between the cockpit and aquilla. If anyone has an extra one I'm in need.
Coming in February:
The Sons of Russ! Rathgar's Great Company.
Lo, behold the FOUR models I've painted in just over a year. I'm going to paint my Space Wolf army this year and as slow as I paint I know it will take all of this year and into the next.

Update for January
Bird 1 is done!
Codex Gray body
Fortress Gray belly
Forge world & various other decals
The angel wing decals can be a bitch to apply but also forgiving if you use a light touch.

State of my January Project
OK, it is the end of the month and time for a progress report to keep faith with the rules, eh?
Remember my project list? It went something like this:
1. The master of ordnance needs flocking and the leman russ turret needs to be painted.
2. Sly Marbo needs to be painted in the colors of my army.
3. Convert Steel Legion with Cadian autocannon then get it painted.
4. Finish my Vendetta squadron. Two birds need finishing.
So how did I do? Lets give myself a grade for each project....
1. Fail
2. Fail
3. Fail
4. Pass / Fail (Got one bird done! Did you see it in the last report?)
OK, so in my defense I changed my tournament list to where I didn't need 1 or 3. Then I borrowed models from Hinkel that I needed for 2 and 4. And in the end I had to miss Coastal Assault due to a bad cold! I'm just full of fails for January.
Coming Up Next Month
I know I said my beloved Wolves will get love in February but they will have to be pushed back (yet again). I believe my Guard tournament list is a rock solid list and I want to finish it next month and hopefully find the time to do Jak's tournament with it. Other than that I've come back around to my fun Chaos Marines now since they are not the 'new shiny' anymore and the bandwagon has left the station. So now I'm gleefully (cue the maniacal laughter) planning on updating my CSMs into a 6th edition tournament army. I haven't formed a concrete plan yet for any of this and I will update for my February project when I have time to plot.
So until then,
Over and out.

February's Project: The Chaos Marine Army 6th Edition Upgrade Begins
Yep, it's time. I didn't want to play my CSM army while the codex was still hot. Now since things have settled down, tactics have been played out and people are moving on to the next new 'shiney' codex and I'm ready to dive back in. And boy, oh boy, I gots lots of upgrading to be done!
Lets start with the models I already got in and started to fiddle with.
1. Power fists are out, power swords and lightning claws are in for chaos champs. I'm converting these three Dark Vengeance models to be my new Khorne berzerker champions.
They are going to be sick, I love the detail. I hope to start painting them soon but first I need to figure out which colors to buy.
2. Moving on to my project box. I believe chaos bikes are one of the outstanding units in the new codex so I've decided to ultimately have 2 bike squads. Squad one will be 6 Nurgle bikers and sometime later I'm adding a biker Nurgle lord. Squad 2 will be 6 Khorne bikers and again, going to make a Lord for them on down the line.
I'm starting with these 3 bikes.
Not much to look at yet. I've got lots and lots of bits to choose from to bling them out in chaos. After they are assembled I need to figure out what paints to get for Nurgle colors.
I've probably already bitten off more than I can chew but we will see where this month goes.

February Update 1
February Update 1
I got more chaos in! So I'm adding these to the project:
More bikers to finish:
These are 3 more bikes I got in the mail today, bringing my biker squad up to 6 strong. As a side note after scouring ebay for a week I've found an interesting phenomena. Across the board Chaos bikes, new or used, are 1/3 more the price than regular space marine bikes whether it be auctions or even new model discount sellers. (I'm not including DV bikes as they are even cheaper due to high supply but they are not very convertible friendly). So I figured I've got the extra chaos bits to spare so I bought the space marine bikes and saved myself ten dollars in the process.
Finish this squad's details:
Notice the berzerkers on the left, their detail work looks dull and soulless. When I purchased this squad of zerkers that is how they came painted. The guy on the right is one I've already added greater details too and it makes a big improvement when you see them on the table. I hope to have the rest improved by next month because I'm expanding my all my CSM squads for 6th, berzerkers will be 15 per squad.

Update IV: Chaos Space Marine Project
OK, so it has been forever and a day but I'm back at it. I need to get my army ready for early next year for Coastal Assault 2014. Half a year to go, no pressure. Yeah right, I'm slower than frozen molasses at the North Pole when working on 40K projects.
Working on the troops. Here is what I got done this month.
One squad of pissed-off Chaos Space Marines in Black Legion bling sporting 2 meltas and a champion with a lightning claw. Their ride is an old school, slightly beat-up Chaos rhino with dozerblade and dirge caster.
Working on next: Berzerker squad and rhino. 80% done.
