So why arent more people playing fantasy?

Hey guys, looking for a little bit of feedback on the argument against Warhammer Fantasy. I've been looking at it more and more lately and it seems pretty awesome, so I was wondering what the specific turn-offs were for it!

I have played fantasy longer than 40k. I think the reason 40k is way more popular is that Americans grew up and still love sci-fi genre to where we get just a little bit of the fantasy stuff.

Fantasy is a bit more rulesy but the rules tend to stay the same over the years with very minor exceptions. The army you started 20 years ago is still around. 40k swings from very cool to ultra stupid every few years which is why I got out of it for a very long time.
