Is there enough interest in a 40k campaign?

Post  Warsmith on Thu Feb 05, 2015 10:32 am

The title says it all.

I am thinking about starting a map based campaign, here is a copy of the campaign rules.

Would there be anyone interested in playing?

I'd definitely be game to play, and those rules seem quite solid.

It is not an "anyday" thing yet, if enough people show interest I'll get to work on the Map board and get things rolling.
no race restrictions
I'd like 6 players committed before starting.

-Thanks

Progress on campaign Map.

Post  Warsmith on Mon Feb 09, 2015 11:10 pm

the map is starting to come together.

The supplies so far
-chalkboard
-wooden circle plaques
-adhesive button magnets
-carpenters glue
-various woodland scenic textured basing materials
" />

I am waiting for glue to dry then I will begin the painting process.

Some questions I have about the campaign.

1. When (what day of the week) would you guys like to play the turns? I would prefer Saturdays or Sundays.
2. How would you prefer everyone to communicate about the campaign? Facebook/ KiK/ Text/ or email?

-Thanks

Jon, those are looking really good, but as for best way to contact, I'm fine with messages on the forums here, posts on the SMG facebook page, or depending on the person, them texting me, as for my day of choice, I would have to say tuesday, because it is already a day where plenty of the participants meet up, and I'm almost never off on weekends.

Ok fellas here are the updated rules
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rfszmwhhx62gjek/Biloxi40kcampaign.pdf?dl=0

The Map

The stage is set for the campaign.

The first war council will be at Jak's this Saturday(02/28/15) at 6:30 pm. Bring a 1250 point army list, with some extra models that might be needed.

If you would like a re-roll for a war relic, submit a short narrative story about your commander or army before the war council.

here is an example of a campaign in the Traxxis Cluster, it is the narrative timeline for the whole campaign. So not looking for anything this long.

"c.042013-052013M41- The shrine ship Tide of Blood is sighted in the Traxxis Star Cluster. Demonic incursions occur on every planet within the sector. Servants of the blood god run rampant on the nearby planets.

c.04242013M41- Shame of the Iron Thane
Astartes from the Iron Hands chapter, report an attack by daemons on a site sacred to their chapter, the burial place of a fallen hero. Astartes kill teams are dispatched and the daemons driven off, although not without a steep price. The site is desecrated and several relics that lay entombed with the fallen Hero are stolen.

c.05012013M41- Battle of Blood and Steel
Necrons from the Jin’sut Dynasty come under assault by raging Khorne daemons. The Necrons falter under the initial assaults of the blood daemons. One necron Lord stands his ground, rallies his forces and challenges the leader of the advancing daemons, a fearsome Bloodthirster. The ensuing duel between metallic lord and avatar of war is the stuff of legends. The Necron lord refusing to yield to the demon, is finally ripped to shreds. The sacrifice of the Necron lord brought the remaining necrons time to organize firing lines and bring death to the demons with gauss weaponry.

c.05082013M41- Hunters trapped!
Dark Angel space marines descend upon the ruined remains of an industrial hive, following rumors that one of the fallen had taken up refuge there. Rumors that were seeded by demonic forces. The Dark Angels make war as they always have, deploying by drop pod and teleportation. It is then that they realize they have been led into a trap. No fallen is present there, only daemons of the blood god. Only three Dark Angels survive the battle. An interrogator chaplain who is dragged into the warp by a band of bloodletters, and two Ancients, astartes who had been entombed in Dreadnought armor, the dreadnaughts are badly damaged. One having to drag the other to an evacuation point.

c.05152013M41- Broken Bridges
Eldar from various craft worlds combine forces to attempt to stop a daemonic incursion. Daemonic forces have somehow entered the webway portals and now seek to exit into craftworlds. The eldar put up hasty defenses and prepare to sell their lives dearly, they make preparations to destroy the exit incase it can not be defended. However it is not to be. The eldar perish in one bloody night of fighting. There are unconfirmed reports of daemons attacking dozens of craft worlds over the next few weeks.

c.05222013M41- Fountain of eternal War.
Daemonic legions plaguing the planet of Uriel VII are fueled by a warp spring. These corrupted waters give the rampaging daemons the ability to exist in real space and defy the laws of the universe. Knowing the daemons have to visit this place on a regular basis, an
entire company of the Tanith first, otherwise known as Gaunts Ghosts deploy in ambush in and around the warp spring. The trap closes and the men from tanith unleash righteous fury on the daemons, however this close to the warp spring the daemons are not to be stopped. The daemons advance through the hail of fire and butcher the ambushers. The few surviving officers order a retreat. And so began a guerrilla war against the daemons. When imperial reinforcements arrive a decade later and cleanse Uriel VII, they find four men of tanith still fighting the daemons.

c.05292013M41- Mont’Ka
The fledgeling race comes in contact with the savage populace of Savior 038, once a mining planet that supplied 90% of the systems ore and mineral trade. Over the course of a thousand year warp storm the population had turned into brutal gladiatorial fighters worshiping the bloodgod. The tau realizing that these humans were beyond redemption and posing a threat to the greater good, cleared the population. At the planets capitol, now renamed Bloodthrone the surviving gladiator cultists and their daemonic masters made one last stand. As the tau cadres advanced, the blood crazed cultists and daemon alike abandoned the safety of their barricades and fortifications and charged. The Tau commanders calmly formed gun lines and ordered them to open fire. Tau casualties were minimal and the daemonic presence on the mining world vanishes overnight. "

I started a campaign thread in 40k Battle Reports since the campaign is active and no longer a future event.
