As discussed we need to start building a club fund
So we need to start discussing how to build a club fund for terrain, prizes for club sponsored events ect....
So for starters for those of you who can paint well would you guys be willing to donate your skills to painting up a few donated pieces to sell on eBay?
Those if you who can't paint maybe donate a few dudes or something.
Idea #2
We could do some fundraisers I know some of us work with alot of people so maybe sell dominos cards (10$ ea includes 5 pizzas and 5 other items) we get 8$ for every card we sell.
There are car washes we could do we could do a raffle at the shop for a battlebox/landraider or something (5$ a ticket have to make a profit right ?
But these are just ideas any input would be nice
Thanks guys

Re: As discussed we need to start building a club fund
why not just have everyone just throw a few dollars here or there for such things, try to keep it simple
if its a club tourney, just make it a cash tourney, everyone pay a small entry fee, ie 5 dollars, cash goes into pot, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd split pot with 1st getting like 50%, 2nd getting 30%, and 3rd getting 20%. or split percentages further if enough people show up, so if there is a sportsmanship have them get some, same for painting.
as far as terrain why not just have people bring their terrain for whatever event

Re: As discussed we need to start building a club fund
All of those are good ideas , but with all the money from the tournys being split between the winners it leaves nothing for the club. We need some ideas to get money into the club itself so we can do things for the club. We can have club tournies where 50% of the money goes into the club funds and the rest is divided as prizes. It's important that we make this club more than just an association of friends that play together. There are a lot of people who cannot play at Jaks and a good use of club funds would be to rent places where people who have been "banned" can come and have a group to play with.

I think it would be best to define what exactly any monies would be used for. Would we open a club bank account? What about taxes? As far as raising money goes, we're a club that focuses on miniatures gaming and we should stick with that strength and create and sell finished models. Any time spent browsing eBay will show there is a big market for well painted miniatures (heck, the market is there for poorly painted ones too.) As for tournaments, maybe we should do a few in-house ones to learn the in's and out's of putting them on before we charge people to play in them.

Well here is what I was thinking.
1. Flea Market - everyone meet either at the store or a location yet to be named to swap extra models, armies and bits. The price to enter is a model or something warhammer of value to be put on Ebay with the proceeds going to start the club fund.
2. Club Tournament - part of the reason why I put forth the pole to see who had tables is to see what size of tournament we can put together. We would half the proceeds with the club and winner.
3. Donations. people could donate terrain or cash to the club.
What do yall think?

I actually think all of theses are good ideas and we should try each to see which are the most successful
