Legion War SEPT 17
just reposting this for prodigal son, didnt see it on this forum
Here are the rules. Please cross post and send this to whoever. In addtion I have posted the tournament on Rankings HQ as well for National Tournament points.
1500 point Warhammer 40K Tournament
The Tournament will be at:
4956 Old Highway 11
Hattiesburg, MS 39402
10:00 A.M. till finished.
2 hour turns.
Dice start rolling at 10:00, so come earlier to get set up.
The Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition Rules will be used.
Games Workshop FAQs will be used.
The following Codex armies are allowed:
Black Templars
Blood Angels
Chaos Daemons
Chaos Space Marines
Dark Angels
Dark Eldar
Eldar
Grey Knights
Imperial Guard
Necrons
Orks
Space Marines
Space Wolves
Tau
Tyranids
Witch Hunters
All armies must be drawn from the latest version of their codex. If they refer to other codices, the latest version of that codex must be used.
Forge World/Imperial Armor rules are not allowed. Forgeworld models can be used to represent appropriate models from a legal army.
Individual units that may have multiple rules versions will follow the rules presented in that army's codex. This means a Black Templar Land Raider will function differently than a standard Space Marine Land Raider. Please take the time to review the FAQ's for clarifications.
Special/Unique/Named Characters may be fielded unless their rules would not allow them in a 1500 point army.
The 'What You See Is What You Get' (WYSIWYG) rule is in effect. That means all units must be easily identifiable as the particular codex choice they represent and that any and all weapons/options taken for a unit must be clearly represented on the model(s). Inaccurate and confusing models can be removed from the board at any point and for the duration of the game, at your opponent’s discretion.
You must provide access to your own rules (which include the actual Codex used for your army), dice, templates, pen/pencil, calculator, or anything else you'll need during the course of regular play.
A separate printed army list is required for the judges and each of your opponents. (6 total copies).
In order to keep the tournament running on schedule, when time is called for a round, all player's must drop the dice and stop playing - no exceptions. Because of this, please be aware of the time left in the round and do not start a turn you cannot finish.
If you field illegal units or models, they will be removed from play. If you field models other than those on your list, those will be removed from play.
Judges' rulings are final and arguments or poor conduct by players will not be tolerated.
SCORING:
Four prizes will be given out that have no bearing on each other.
Best General - For the individual that earns the most battle points
Best Painted - For the individual that has the best painted army
Best Sportsman - For the best Sportsman of the day.
Bad Dice Harry - For the individual with the worst luck of the day! (i.e. worst battle points)

Re: Legion War SEPT 17
What are the painting minimums? 3 colors, or no primer/plastic/metal showing?

The Grand tournaments have gone to 2000 pts and it only provides minimal practice for lists your not going to run or be pitted against, except in this environment. 2000 pts are practical enough that the games dont last forever and you see list variations which you will most likely encounter again in other places.

Re: Legion War SEPT 17
But consider that 1500 pts is something different. I mean, honestly who wants to run the same list at the same point limit all the time. That's boring and makes you unflexable as a gamer on a more diverse level. But that's my opinion, as the previous post was an opinion.

Re: Legion War SEPT 17
hmm, 3 color minimum? i know i can meet it in time, but two of the guys that were going to come seemed to get wide eyed about it and said not sure if they'll be able to make it. ill talk to em at gaming today, could they like sign a disclaimer saying that even if they trounce in all 4 rounds cause if they dont meet requirements then no prizes lol? i know i know, kinda silly. ill try and convince em to get to work!

What is the policy for bribing the judges? By that I mean, what do they like most?

Re: Legion War SEPT 17
The painting requirement is very small, just three colors on the models, and this is only for the painting prize.
If you really want to make it, and you can't quite get that last squad painted, or even sprayed, don't worry, we aren't going to throw you out or anything. I just know that Don and I are furiously working on about 8 tables worth of terrain/tables, and it's a LOT nicer playing with painted stuff.
If your army isn't painted, you are still elible for 3/4 prizes and winning best general, best sportsman, and Never Give Up, Never Surrender!

tables
We have nine tables with terrain at the moment. Unless we have 19+ people, we should be fine.

Hey let me know if you need tables at the last minute. I have five tables with terrain I can bring. I should be there and I think my son might come also.

Re: Legion War SEPT 17
While it's not required, if it's possible, fire an e-mail to shawn.lowrey@gmail.com if you plan on making it, or know some people that are. I'm just trying to get a head count. We are bringing eight tables, but I can easily bring more if necessary.
