I was going to post this in building tips, but that forum is closed to everyone except the moderators (*cough, cough*), but I digress. I stopped at Harbor Freight Tools on Pass Road today and picked up a new copy of my favorite plastic model tool. The diagonal cutters are great because they can get into tiny spaces and despite the fact they are from Harbor Freight, they are quite sharp, and a bargain at just $2.50. While I was there, I also grabbed three packages of rare earth magnets (5/16" diameter, 1/8" thick) for a total of 18 magnets for $4.50. I have never magnetized anything but now I'll give it a go.

I imagine it involves hollowing out the plastic and sticking a magnet in the hole with gobs of epoxy.

Here is some advice for magnetizing your models: It is easier than you think.

I started magnetizing after watching just a couple of videos on youtube and before I knew it I had magnetized my entire wolf guard terminator pack like a pro!

Look at how easy it is:

Get magnets (I find 1/8 by 1/16 rare earth magnets work best for terminators. You can get 200 for $12 on ebay.)
Get drill bit. (regular old drill bit like the kind you find at a hardware store, costs like 2-3 bucks)
You don't need a pen drill if you are drilling into plastic but I recommend it. (I'm cheap and didn't buy one and use my fingers.)
Get to drilling! Takes a little practice to get a good method down. Try not to breathe to close to the shavings.
Super glue in the magnets and presto!

The hardest part is to MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CORRECT MAGNET ALIGNMENTS before you glue. The videos should give you some handy tips on how to make sure you do that as it is harder than it sounds as the magnets tend to want to flip when putting them into the holes.

It is not hard, don't be afraid to try. Its fun to be able to switch out weapons in a pinch.

I'd recommend marking them with a marker before gluing so you don't get the poles crossed. You don't want that auto-cannon refusing to attach to your terminator.
