February Waaaaaagh
I'm setting up a Orks only tournament for sometime in February for six or eight players. Single elimination brackets but you'll play in every round.
Pandemonium has gripped the green galaxy. Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka has fallen! In a hotly contested battle, the Warlord of Warlords, Ghazghkull was last seen attempting to use his power klaw to pry open the armor of a Warhound Titan. Ghazghkull was fearless, but you can't accuse him of being very intelligent. He's now known as the green squishy stuff under a titans foot.
What's bad news for Ghazghkull is great news for you. There is a leadership vacuum in the Orky universe and you've got the big stick that it takes to put those gits in line! This is a straight up easy task for you. All you've got to do is smack those uppity pretenders around and show 'em all who the new boss is.
Here's the details:
Each player will bring a 700 point list. No named characters! This is you chance to show the other Orks what you've got. Your general can be either a warlord or a big mek, beyond that standard force org applies.
At the end of each round, the losing armies will be added to the winning army for the next round (to show that the winning war boss is growing his waaaagh) and the winning war boss will add +1 to either his Strength, Toughness, Attacks or Wounds.
There is only one thing that will determine the winner of each battle. Kill points. Everyone knows that might makes right.
There will be an opportunity to earn bonus victory points at the start of each round.
Round One: Best (or loudest) Waaaagh battle cry.
Round Two: Best sneaky git. Make up your own rule. Best one will be used that round. (just remember your opponent gets to use it too)
Round Three: Swimsuit competition. No, that wouldn't be fair to the spectators. Ork speed painting contest. Orks and paints will be supplied. First person to paint an Ork completely using three colors wins.
During the course of battle, don't be surprised if random, chaotic things happen, these are Orks we're talking about.
There will be a prize for the winning war boss (and not just the glowing adulation of other Orks)
If you want to play but don't have any Orks, fear not. One thing every Ork general knows is there's safety in numbers. I think between all the Ork players around, we can come up with some loaner armies that day.
I'll get to work finding a suitable day to run this. May the strongest Ork win!

I'm interested in it. Seems to be fun. Just let me know when you settle on a date in february..... Can't be valentine's day though... Gotta earn brownie points with the wife plus our anniversary.

Well you know what will make this more interesting is Orcs & Goblin armies from fantasy doing this. After playing warhammer battle march for 360. I was wanting to play fantasy since I started playing 40k.

I want to do this at Jaks. Will Sonny be okay with running a club function at the shop? I'm thinking of doing it on a Saturday so as not to interfere with regular gaming on Sunday. Also the way it's set up with losing armies being added to the winning army for the next round, it really needs 8 players for three rounds of battles. The force size will grow from 700 points to 1400 and the final battle will be 2800 points per side so the games will get progressively larger and longer (game length will increase each round.) I will also need one volunteer to be my co-tournament organizer since I work Saturdays and may have to leave before the end.

It would be really interesting playing in this tournament. I've only played orks 1 time and that was proxying alot of it.

Here is another Idea... why don't we have a similar tournament after this, but for chaos marines to see who is the best Chaos Lord to get the biggest warband going? It'll work similar to this.... Just a suggestion.

KNK: Put it together and set a date I will add it to the tournament section. I'm sure there are tons of Chaos fans who would love to play. If you set the date a couple of months out you may even draw some people from Alabama and Baton Rouge!
Re: February Waaaaaagh
probably be later half of next year.... it'll give me time to collect some models for myself cause I won't be sitting on the sidelines on it.

I haven't heard from Sonny yet but lets just move ahead with this. We need 8 war bosses for this to work. Three rounds. First will be four tables, then two then one table for all the teef! The rounds will start short ang get longer as the army sizes will grow. Show up at 10a.m., first round kicks off at 11:00-12:30, round two 1:00-3:00, final round 4:00-6:30.
I have a few goals for this. First is to have a fun club event. Secondly, get more experience running events and if it goes well, we can do similar events every 4-6 months with different armies and make it a regional event. Better yet, between us, Little Wars and Mini War Games, we cal have local eliminations and then a big get together that rotates to host stores with bragging rights on the line. Towards the running events side of it, I would really like one or two people to help put this on. If we're building toward hosting our own big, regional tournament someday, we need to cut our teeth sooner or later.

Yeah it'll be fun. I'll do it because of that fact. I wonder how many people will be there though cause not everyone likes or wants to play orks.

I'm going to have to postpone this for a little bit. I started a new schedule and I'm working on Saturdays now. I'll have a new date very soon and post up when it is once it's chosen.
