Ok guys I have a club challenge project:

A. Develop three new deployment styles not currently used in the 40k Rule book. i.e. Diagonal, end to end. . . Must be functional enough to use in a tournament.

B. Develop three new mission objectives that are compatible with the ones already in the 40k rulebook. Must be compatible with games at and below 2000pts. Not looking for Apox rules or deployments. For example deep striking objectives, seize terrain pieces...

C. Complete this task by 05 Feb 12 and post them on this thread. We will then have a vote. The top three will be added to our house rules so that when you roll up missions you can use a D6 instead of a D3 and have a better variety of missions and deployment styles!

I like the idea. Just a little knowledge bomb, there is a group called 40k Fight Club that makes up standard missions and play tests the crap out of them to make sure they are fair across the board. I believe they currently have 12 missions. If you search for them they should be easy to find. I've read them and they seem pretty solid, and more important, fun. I'll be using them at the Feb tournament to give some flavor.

Just Google 40k fight club mission packet. It's a pdf file

Standard Missions Chart

1-2 Seize Ground Objectives
3-4 Capture and Hold Objectives / Deployment Zones
5-6 Annihilation Kill Points

Deployments

Pitched Battle – Long Table Edge
Spearhead – Table Quarters
Dawn Of War – Table Halves
_____________________________________________________________________
My Additions to consider are 3 new additions to the Missions and three new Deployment alternatives.

Mission Additions

Table Your Opponent The only victory condition is totally wipe out the opposing army. This actually will work with any Deployment alternative but is extremely attractive when used with the new Deployments I propose of Ambush and Hold at all Costs.

Revenge Standard Victory conditions for Annihilation apply with the following Primary victory condition added. Prior to the battle examine your opponents’ army list and select two units for revenge. They have done you race/chapter some great harm in the past and if they are eliminated totally each is worth 10 victory points.

Break Through Standard Victory conditions for Annihilation apply with the following Primary victory condition added. Each unit or part of that unit ( one model from a full tactical squad would qualify) that exits the board through your opponent’s deployment zone is awarded 10 victory points.

New Deployment Alternatives (all alternatives have approximately 6 Sq Ft of Deoloyment Zone for each player)

Ambush
