CKO Question of the Week Empty CKO Question of the Week

Post  CKO Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:41 am

I thought I would ask a question each Monday that will hopefully start a small discussion on tactics. Hopefully through the discussion we can learn from each other and become better players. Everyone voice your opinion as there is no right or wrong answer.

CKO Question of the Week?

Who wins the game a player that focuses on maximizing his list strengths, or the player that focuses on minimizing his list weaknesses? scratch

Minimizing weakness. If you build strong, you tend to spam. That means someone who has your anti-spam will crush you. Minimizing weakness tends to make a rounded list able to be more adaptable and flexable. Example, I used 3 dreads and purifiers for a while and broke even. I re-thought my list and added two dreadknights to minimize the weakness (which was lack of punching power). I now feel the list is more capable of taking on more things that I'm not used to, especially since i made my new list after playing new people at Coastal Assault and breaking the norm.

either one for me i like to make a list that will max out and minimizing at the same time so u can adjust too both kind of list
but some say u cant some say u can
stratigizing to each army and know each weakness and know your own str and weakness to overcome it
im kind of a wierd fella who goes outside the box
play opposite of what others play and strive to make it work

CKO Question of the Week Empty Re: CKO Question of the Week

I tend to focus on maxmizing strengths, I like creating problems more so than answering them. I have to say though that I usually end up minimizing my weaknesses by taking more units that make my list stronger. For example with my Space Wolf list that I had I traded my Typhoon Land Speeders for Razorbacks for my long fang units. They allowed me to use empty las/plas razorbacks for cover for my transports that actually had models in them, so by doing that I added a form of defense while not giving up any fire power.

Another example of maxmizing strengths is Patrick tyranids, I suggested that he add in tervigons to give his genestellars feel no pain. Now his genestellars are alot stronger as they now have a save against flamers and in some cases they will get a cover save and a feel no pain save. By focusing on his strength the list is alot scarier in my opinion.

Minimizing weakness = maximizing strengths "a good defense is a good offense" ect
If you fill in the holes of your list to help minimize aren't you also adding strength? Anyways that's my two cents

Isn't minimizing weakness and maximizing strength really the same thing? The weakness in my list is always me, so I can't really eliminate that.

Either way, I try to exploit my opponent's weaknesses and strengths. Bwahahaha (note: try)
