plasma in my wolves

I'm thinking of running plasma instead of melta in my gh squads ....most time I would rather double tap than assault.... and plasma could wear a 5/6 man squad pretty thin....I know the overheat gamble...
Thoughts?

Funny enough after making 5 las/plas razor backs I have 2 plasma guns left....

If you want to double tap that tells me you rather like to play your wolves in a more static fashion. If that is the case then yes, IMHO plasma trumps melta (especially since it seems you have plenty of anti-mech already).

Aggressive wolf players (or those with little other anti-mech) should certainly go down the melta road.

Plasma wolves are very nasty. Especially since you get the second one for free. You won't overheat as much as you would think and dropping a hive tyrant with two squads in one round is too good to pass up.

My opinion is build and play what you like. Try them out and see how they do. I have an extremely low view of the BoLS netlist, anything for a win players. As soon as someone says "Use this because it's the best..." run away. They will suck the fun out of the game. One of two things will happen, they'll work or they won't.

I had horrible luck with plasma, but that's just me but the double tap is really nice when it works..also ask nick how he likes his plasma wolves as I remember stuart got his ass handed to him .... KILL THE GREY KNIGHTS!!!!!!

Try 2 plasma units and the rest all melta units. This will give you terminator and Mephiston control but still allow you to blow up tanks and kill characters outright.

Remember to place plasma units in cover or remain in tanks when you do this as you will be assaulted if the unit survives or there is a counter unit. This should allow you to live through the shooting phase and counter assault.
