New FAQ to be released at the same time as 6th starter
Found this at a place online I frequent....
http://space-wolves-grey.blogspot.com/2012/07/regular-faq-pdf-updates-for-40k.html
New FAQs are coming around the time of release of the new stater set. This will be the first of the regular PDF updates for 40K.
There was meant to be a massive FAQ update when 6th came out, but they only FAQ'd the psychic powers, which was a big disappointment for many people.
It would seem that the games designers made a last minute decision to allow everyone to digest the 6th edition rules for a while before making more alterations to the balance of the game.
Instead, the big FAQ roll out is coming in a couple of months. So you will have all your questions answered then.
GW is planning to maintain balance with regular FAQ updates and alterations. So, in the example I was given, I was told that Grey Knights Purifiers may have their rules changed or increase in points.
Playing a well rounded army is going to be more important than ever. If you put your faith in death star or the spamming of certain units, you could be in for a rude awakening each time a new PDF Update is rolled out.
Will we get the option to upgrade all our Missile Launchers to have Flakk Missiles in the next update? I reckon so, but only time will tell.
White Dwarf
In addition to the PDF updates, we're going to see a lot of new units and rules updates in White Dwarf. The Chaos Daemons bolt-on has just come out this weekend, but how all these updates are going to be managed and meshed together I'm not quite sure. PDF updates on the GW website may be the way forward.
Meanwhile, White Dwarf is taking a different direction when it comes to battle reports. Apparently we're going to start seeing some proper tournament style armies and seriously brutal battle reports from September.
So there's 2 good reasons to buy White Dwarf, when previously there were none.

Usually he's legit about stuff like this.
Maybe this will help out on like Missile launchers being able to take down flyers better, DE huskblade being ap2, etc.

Purifiers are pretty expensive as is. Compared to how everything can shoot 24" now, nerfs to their power weapons, and the new psychic powers being amazing, the fact that 10 with weapons comes to 315 points is tough enough buildig a list. An increase and price and ill probably proxy them as vanilla marines so i can take twice as many and win every time.

This makes me wonder if GW will release an updated big rule book in a year or so with all the current FAQ and White Dwarf rules. Then everyone who shelled out $75 for the book can drop another $75 on the newer correct book. Hopefully, the new rules updates will be in the mini rulebook that comes out with the boxed set.

I'm becoming increasingly anti-GW and this is just another reason why.

Yup.... Eventually you'll have to have I pads everywhere or a labtop at a tournament just to keep up with everything they'll be adding every few months.

Its a bit crazy that they would release something and keep giving us updates like we bought a computer game. Its a book. It doesn't take patch updates and they expect us to pay more for these updates assuming they come in the WD form? This is why the English aren't a real world power anymore, just saying.

eww that would be terrible... that is pretty stupid though... i can understand having a few changes FAQed here and there (after all everyone makes mistakes or misses things) but if they are going hog wild they really should have caught a lot of that and put it in the rule book... lol i hope everyone can remember what they are if so cuz i sure as hell am not gonna pay for an "update book" lol. (obv i will read over the FAQs what i am saying in case people misunderstand is that I hope they dont have so much as to make it unrealistic to remember it all)

GW is probably thinking if they make certain things overly good people will buy them. They just rinse and repeat with what unit it is that quarter.

See this is why I never buy a new operating system until it is on Service Pack 2. You get the same problem with new RPG systems and their first printings, I always hold off a while. I'm actually debating just sticking with the electronic format and using my kindle fire for this edition or at least until a mini rulebook comes out. I just can't see me toting around that phonebook.
As far as the Dark Eldar updates I'm definitely looking forward to an improvement on the huskblade and possibly agonizers, but either ways its not going to shift my current strategy to much with the nerf to assault, I really can't see any reason to buy the sergeant upgrade 10 points, and the 20 points for an agonizer on a unit that is A. Taking a strength 4 hit in an open topped vehicle if it blows up with Toughness 3, B. Delayed from the fleet nerf, C. Delayed from the assaulting from reserves/webway, and D. Now getting shot up by overwatch with my mighty 6+ and 5+ armor saves. What I will say is that I'd rather have our melee only incubi units get the AP2 buff to their klaives, but I don't really see that happening.
I've started taking eldar allies to capitalize on the farseer fortune/shadowfield combo, but with the wording of that post, they may nerf it, although its really not that powerful. I am loving the allies rules, though and its really fluffy since Harlequins are one of my favorite units.
Looking at the new model releases really left DE wanting, I didn't see the Voidraven, maybe I missed it. And we already have a model for the grotesque, although they said they were working on additional poses for that non-shooty assault unit. I'd be far more amped up if there was some tweaked rules for mandrakes since they have such a cool model. Either ways, hopefully we see a few more units coming out with skyfire, because these small team games that we have weekly make flyers king, due to lack of unit options. I definitely can't see me bringing my expensive flyers just to kill other flyers or using my single lance shots to try and knock them out of the air from the ground.
