neodymium magnets?

Why size neodymium magnets should I get for my models so I can magnetize the arms? 3mm x2mm? Has anyone done that to their army? And how do I go about it anyways?

3x1 mm 2x1mm
the twos for arms(or like sized piece) and the 3 for large parts. say like dreadnaught arms tank turrets etc
