Should we do a Hobby Progress Challenge?
Hobby Progress Challenge Yes or No
Would yall be interested in a Hobby Progress Challenge like they do on the Independent Characters blog? Basically you make a hobby commitment and then every month you post your hobby progress. For example I am building a WH30K army. I would take photos of the unassembled models this month, make a commitment to build and paint one or more of the units before the month is over. As I put them together and paint them I would post photos of my progress until the army is complete. You have to state what you are going to accomplish during the month and show progress. The goal would be that this time next year all participants would have completely painted armies! You could do a hobby challenge on an army that you already have that is not painted.... I will leave the poll up for one week. If we have enough interest, let’s say more than 5 people I will head it up and make a space for it. Don’t forget that an important part of this process is to post photo to the forum of your progress so that would mean that you need a Photobucket account or someplace to host your photos so that you can post them here. There are many free services that will do that for you. So let me know.
Hobby Progress Challenge Yes or No
I'll vote yes first. This could be great. Show interest and commitment to the/a hobby.
I'll commit to two Game systems and Three armies....
1) Warhammer 40,000 (WH40K) I'll redress and ready my R/T UltraMarines updated for 6th Ed. PowerArmor Mk1 - Mk6, Mohawk Scouts (To ride in the 6th Ed Storms), Mark I Land Raders, Mark I Rhino's. Mark 1 Razorbacks, amd Mark I/II Prediators ( not the current Mark III version), Mark II Land Speeders ( My son plays Mark I's so I need to be different). I'll take the year as I am only going to play Necs for 1 year and retire them in favor of Codex Ultramarines.Nids (2012) down, Necs (2013) underwy, and moving to my 2014 Ultras ........
2) Fields of Glory (FOG) I have a Japanese Samuri (Kofun-Nara) 650AD Army.... To complete my set of armies I need to build an early Kofun-Nara (300AD) army and a late Moromochi (1470AD). I need them sooner rather than later so I will sign up and start painting.
This a total of over 500 figures and vehicles...........
We'll see how it goes

This is perfect motivation.
I'm embarrassed my favorite army is still 95% unpainted after 1 year.

I'm doing the Independent Characters challenge already. I would be willing to do one here on a smaller scale.

I'm down. I've got a small Blindwater battle force I'll be painting up as part of a trade and have started Tyranids for 2013. I'll be more than happy to participate here! Does SMG have a blog as well?

I'll give it a go, most of my models are assembled, but my painting leaves alot to be desired.

I am going to do an Eldar army and write a story for it. I dont really paint but the story is the hobby side of it and I will have models for the characters that I will pay others to paint for me. I hope writting can be consider part of the challenge maybe 200 pages I am not sure.

Re: Hobby Progress Challenge Yes or No
I think this is great and I already said so ......... so ...........
Just to kick start .........
Each of us will need a baselkine pic of the work we are undertaking......... So here is my baseline pic of the Kofun-Nara 276AD ( yes I adjusted the date down from 399AD) army. Total of 80 figures.... All mounted and seperated into battle groups, in various stages of primed, washed, and color applied. The army has a 6 color and two color double wash pallet ........

Re: Hobby Progress Challenge Yes or No
I've been working on my IC Hobby Progress army today. Taken in small bits, it's not unreasonable to complete. I expect to have my first unit of Fire Warriors complete by next week. If we do a similar thing here, I strongly suggest just copying their format word for word.
