Eldar Fire Dragon Exarch with a Quad Gun/Icarus Las Cannon

So if I take a Fire Dragon Exarch and give him crack shot and place him in base to base with my Aegis gun, do his shots ignore Jink/Cover?

Crack Shot says "the enemy may not make cover saves against shots from the Exarch" and "may re-roll any failed to wound rolls when shooting."

So first question is about denying cover.

Second question, if I fail to glance or pen a vehicle, do I get to re-roll? Or is that just to wound?

Gun emplacements say "can fire it instead of his own weapon, following the normal rules for shooting."

My assumption is that if the firer has any special powers that enhance shooting it would work, ie crack shot. Or in the case of an independant character precise shot.

I believe you are right I read how some players was using Scout Telion in a similar manner.

You are correct. However if you double up our forces for this goal you have utilized your fire dragon exarch for one purpose and are not utilizing the entire unit.

Well I usually sit him behind an Aegis to defend my backfield, gives me a unit to buffer part of the table. I know your not a big fan of the aegis, but I'm running a gun line that has a few non-scoring units in it. If I had the points (and the model) I might try to put them in a wave serpent and attack with them.

At the last tournament my fire dragons did well in 2 of 3 games. They massacred a marine biker squad in one and killed a fair amount of scarab swarms in another.

Edit: I was using my archon to man the gun with his BS7, but the exarch upgrade was far cheaper and more effective so I cashed him out for points on a different HQ to add another troop and some versatility. I ended up with a Baron and 7 Hellions, which gives me the +1 to going first. In the end, someone has to man the gun, and I'd rather have the guy with tank hunters and crack shot doing it. It ties down my fire dragon squad, but there's not alot of other options for me.

I could always put a warrior troop squad on it and advance my dragons. I'm still tinkering with my list.
