Re: SMG Warhammer 40k Tuesday meetups @ maCnarB Gaming - May/June 2014
Ok, some of us had an idea to play 2v2 500pt kill team rules, as from our 200pt game.
We talked about changing the force org to 0-2 elite, 0-3 troop, and 0-2 fast attack
We made mention of changing how abilities that affect units (such as Blood Angels priests) should change:
Here's what I recommend. If a model provides benefits to his squad, then it only affects those models inside 6".
A unit that could arrive from a type of reserve, or affect deployment, due to a single model with that rule (scout, infiltrate) still affects the unit and must function as a unit up until it's first movement phase.
Any confusion or suggestions?

500 pt Kill Team? O.o;; If we keep the normal KT restrictions, wouldn't Ork, IG, and 'nid swarms will pretty much seal that deal?
I like the 'special rule bubble' however. ^ ^

We figured a 500pt kill team would take as much time as a 1250 team game
Yes, lots of dudes has an advantage over fewer, but if my pathfinders r proof of anything...

I'm going to have to say that 500pt kill team is a bad idea, bumping it up to 500pts would bring out a whole bunch of dumb combos and would make horde armies better than they already are, just my two cents.

Re: SMG Warhammer 40k Tuesday meetups @ maCnarB Gaming - May/June 2014
A point was made about normal units being able to produce an effect once per phase now being able to do it per model (since each model is it's own unit)
We could include this under the bubble rule, as an example: a model which was purchased from Unit A throws a grenade, all models that were purchased as part of Unit A within the bubble can not use the same action.
Yes, this still allows for some extra effect, but it forces models to potentially be out of range, while keeping with the effect of acting independently.
Bubble Rule. All models purchased as a unit can not perform duplicate actions that are normally limited, or designed to work as a group (yes, this changes Brotherhood) so long as they are within 6" of another model from the same unit that has already performed this action. Abilities that benefit from greater numbers (Mob rule for Irks) count members of their orginal unit only if they are within 6". Models with abilities which normally affect their unit only affect models from that unit if they r within 6". NOTE: since ICs can not join a unit in Kill Team, it may never benefit from this rule.
Comments?

And I did think about making the bubble bigger, cuz 6" can still be exploited by certain armies, but I felt that making it say 12", was far too much for unit abilities such as Tau armies. I think the distance should remain consistent though to keep the rule simple.
This is supposed to be an addition to the rules to keep it fun at higher points. I would hope we could enjoy the kill team rules without trying to bend and break it.

Personally, I'd rather play lower point games with interesting objectives. I'll bring a couple WDs and my Battle missions book today.
I can also bring the rules / terrain for my "train heist" scenario...

I should be there just after 6. Hopefully nothing will come up and I'll actually be there when I'm supposed to be. Lol

Tomorrow we need to help our fellow players who are going to mobicon practice for it, so everyone should preferably bring a 2k list to help them out.

Will people want to practice both events we were talking about last week? The 2k and the kill team?
I know the special rules for the 2k, are there any for the kill team event?

alright the plan (for most of us at least) for tomorrow is to play test the new edition, not by playing small learning games, but by playing 1850 tournament sized games

Sure, I don't mind being a Guinea pig. I will try to make Tuesday but I don't have the new rulebook yet. I just know what I've read on the web.

Re: SMG Warhammer 40k Tuesday meetups @ maCnarB Gaming - May/June 2014
alright tomorrow scott is indeed bringing his train heist mission, so that will be an option should anyone want to play a small point level just for fun narrative type game, but if we have a large turnout like before not everyone will be able to play this at one time, so post what you want to play so we can get a estimated body count.

I want to play the train mission , if we need couldn't we just combine the 2 tables if we have a lot of people for a long train mission? Just a thought

its not a problem of space, its a problem of time. When you have team games with more than six people it takes too long and we are never able to finish the game.

one player has 500pts and one player has 750pts, so bring a list for both points values. Scott says it is designed to be a 1v1 type game, so points may or may not be adjusted depending on how many people want to play
